Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance: Netflix Anime Series

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is an upcoming action sci-fi series from Japan, set to premiere on Netflix. Directed by Erasmus Brosdau (from Altered Carbon: Resleeved) and written by Gavin Hignight (Tekken: Bloodline), this series is a new installment in the Gundam franchise, which has been loved for nearly 45 years.

The series is produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Safehouse, and Sunrise, with Gavin Hignight and Naohiro Ogata (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway) serving as executive producers. Hiroaki Yura (Project Phoenix) is also a producer. The series will be brought to life using Epic’s Unreal Engine 5 and will include eight episodes, each with a runtime of around 30 minutes.

The Plot of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance

Set in the Universal Century timeline during the One-Year War, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance takes place in the final months of the Zeonic War for Independence. Although specific plot details are limited, fans of the Gundam series can expect a story set against this significant historical conflict.

The official synopsis for the upcoming series is as follows:

In the year 0079 of the Universal Century, the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation, leading to war between the two nations. Zeon initially gains an advantage with their new Mobile Suits, but they lack the strength to conquer all of Earth, resulting in a stalemate.

Eleven months into the conflict, Earth Federation forces captured a Zeon-controlled base in Eastern Europe. Among the battalion sent to retake this base is Sorari and the Red Wolves division, a Mobile Suit platoon recently arrived from space.

The Cast

Celia Massingham is the only confirmed cast member for the English dub of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, where she will take on the lead role of Iria Sorari. Massingham has a relatively short list of credits, with her most notable role being Hedy Lamarr in an episode of the third season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
