TWISTER (1996) 🎬🍿

An unprecedented series of violent tornadoes is sweeping across Oklahoma. Tornado chasers, headed by Dr. Jo Harding, attempt to release a groundbreaking device that will allow them to track them and create a more advanced warning system. They are joined by Jo’s soon to be ex-husband Bill, a former tornado chaser himself, and his girlfriend Melissa.

“Twister,” released in 1996, is a thrilling disaster film directed by Jan de Bont. The story follows a team of storm chasers, led by Bill Harding (played by Bill Paxton) and his estranged wife Jo Harding (played by Helen Hunt), as they pursue a series of powerful tornadoes in Oklahoma. Their goal is to deploy a revolutionary weather data-gathering device called “Dorothy” to improve tornado warning systems.

The film is known for its groundbreaking special effects, particularly the realistic depiction of tornadoes, which were created using a combination of practical effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI). “Twister” was one of the earliest films to use CGI extensively to create natural disasters.

The supporting cast includes Jami Gertz, Cary Elwes, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Alan Ruck. The film’s high-energy action sequences, dramatic tension, and innovative visual effects made it a box office success, and it remains a popular and influential disaster movie.
