The teaser trailer for IT Chapter 3: Welcome to Derry opens with a sweeping shot of the small, seemingly quaint town of Derry, Maine. The camera glides over the familiar locations — the abandoned Neibolt house, the quiet streets, the dense forest surrounding the town — all bathed in an eerie, fog-covered morning light. A low, haunting melody begins to play as a distant child’s laughter echoes faintly, sending chills down the spine.

The screen cuts to a title card: “Derry, 1969.” The soft laughter turns into a scream as the trailer transitions to quick flashes of unsettling scenes: a young boy riding a bicycle through a dimly lit street, his face pale with fear; a group of children staring down into a dark sewer drain; and an ominous red balloon slowly drifting down a deserted alleyway.

The music grows more intense as we hear a whisper, familiar yet more sinister than ever: “Come back to play…” The screen goes black, and then Pennywise’s distorted, menacing laugh pierces the silence, filling the audience with dread.

Cut to scenes of new faces — a group of teenagers from different backgrounds and stories who have all been drawn to Derry by a mysterious force. The camera lingers on each of them, capturing their fearful expressions, as they find clues hinting at the town’s dark history. “There’s something wrong with this place,” one of them mutters, flipping through a faded book filled with old newspaper clippings of missing children and unexplained horrors.

The trailer flashes back to the early days of Derry’s unsettling past, revealing the origins of the evil lurking beneath the town. We see glimpses of strange occurrences: a carnival shrouded in mist where shadows move unnaturally; a dark well in the middle of the woods where something stirs just below the surface; and an old photograph of a young girl with a red balloon floating beside her, a smile that slowly turns into a look of terror.

The tension builds as the music reaches a crescendo, and suddenly, we see Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) emerge from the darkness, his eyes glowing a chilling yellow. He grins, his razor-sharp teeth glistening in the dim light, and whispers, “Welcome back to Derry.” The camera zooms in on his face, revealing every crack in his makeup, every sinister twitch of his smile.

Quick flashes show the teenagers trying to escape — running through dark forests, hiding in abandoned buildings, and confronting their deepest fears. A red balloon floats past them, its string trailing behind like a thin thread of dread. One of the teens grabs a piece of paper and sees a haunting message written in red: “You’ll float too.”

The final moments of the trailer feature a sequence of rapid, disorienting cuts: the sound of maniacal laughter, children’s voices chanting in the distance, hands reaching out from the darkness, and Pennywise’s face coming closer and closer to the screen until it fills the frame.

The screen goes black once more, and the title card appears: IT Chapter 3: Welcome to Derry. The trailer ends with the tagline: “The terror returns – 2024.”

The last sound is Pennywise’s voice, low and teasing, “I’ve missed you…” followed by his laugh, which echoes and fades into the darkness.
